The INGenWeb Project

In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Indiana Comprehensive Genealogy Database. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Indiana, where collected databases would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index.

The project later became known as The INGenWeb Project.

Genealogy Trails

From the Website: "We started out way back in March 2000 by providing data for the state of Illinois and expanded to cover the other states in March of 2006. Since then, we've been very pleased to welcome the many new hosts who have joined our original Illinois volunteers, and to continue to bring free transcribed data to our websites. Genealogy Trails provides webspace to our volunteers for their county sites and those volunteers are solely responsible for the content they place on their sites with us."

The Occasional Genealogist (Blog)

From the Website: "I'm Jennifer, and I'm an Occasional Genealogist... sort of. For over ten years I've been a professional genealogist. I started researching my own family nearly 30 years ago. Like many of you, I started as an Occasional Genealogist. I had to squeeze research in while in school and while working full-time. Then I got my first genealogy job and for awhile, it was genealogy all the time. Now I have two kids. I do other people's genealogy constantly but my own? Coming up with ways to do great genealogy, despite all the interruptions, is now mandatory."

But in the end, uncovering your family history can be a fascinating hobby that helps you to learn more about your roots."
